For driving on the wrong side of an emtpy street and making me hit a fucking sign. Seriously, the fucking road was emtpy. It was my fault that I hit the sign, but still.

a little paint must die so another person can live.... if that makes you feel better

That is true I guess.

I’m guessing he was driving on the side of the street that the call was on, which is standard. Better to drive/park on the wrong side than have to cross the street with gear and/or a stretcher

i was trying to base it on the Sin City quote. I think it was something like ‘an old man must die so a little girl can live’

This was literally in front of a hospital, but I was just stupid. He was driving with his sirens off so I didn’t see him while turning right.

If a ambulance in oncoming, and there is no one in his way, I dont move, slow down, nothing, I keep my course. But I also have a dash cam that can corroborate the circumstances if need be.
(Used to be a volenteer, and some dept. drivers were dicks for no reason.)

Siren and lights off, or just siren?

He drove with his sirens off so I didn’t know an ambulance was coming while I was making a right turn. My first reaction was to come to a full stop and giving way while he was driving towards me. I just didn’t see the damn sign.

Just his lights, no siren.

Lives > paint.

At the risk of being rude, I would say if you didn’t see an ambulance with its lights on then you didn’t sufficiently look before making your turn. There’s a ton of things that could have been there instead that could have made this an even worse situation. Cyclist, kid on a skateboard, etc. Personally I’d chalk this up as a reminder to look both ways even when turning right (and especially around a hospital) and be thankful that it wasn’t worse.

I approached the intersection slowly because there are two pedestrian crossings. I came to a stop at the second ped crossing. (The blue line is me, the red one from the ambulance).

I had a slightly less interesting encounter with an ambulance yesterday, I figured I’d post it because why not.
Also, you’d think an ambulance on the wrong side of the road would at least turn his damn siren on.

He didn’t seem to be in a hurry. I guess he didn’t have his sirens on because of the patient in the back.

Damn. Probably on his cell phone...
